Abbott Laboratories said Friday that it is releasing limited quantities of metabolic nutrition formulas that were previously on hold at the request of the Food and Drug Administration.

The company said the formulas were previously on hold following its recall of some powder infant formulas from its Sturgis, Mich., facility.

The company said the products being released weren't included in the recall. It added that the products have been tested and comply with all product release requirements before distribution.

Abbott said it has implemented corrective actions and is working with the FDA to address the situation before resuming operations at its facility. It said it will take at least six to eight weeks for products to be available for distribution once it can resume production.
