ABB Ltd. said Tuesday that its subsidiary ABB Power Grids has signed a $100 million contract with South America's largest transmission-system operator to supply power and other equipment for the next five years.

ABB Power Grids will partner with Interconexion Electrica SA ESP, which operates over 62,000 kilometers of power transmission infrastructure, and is currently constructing more than 7,000 kilometers, the company said. ISA, based in Colombia, operates in Brazil, Peru and Chile, among other Latin American nations.

The contract is for the supply of shunt reactors, gas-insulated switchgear and air-insulated switchgear, such as circuit breakers, instrument transformers and hybrid modules.

ABB's Power Grids business will be divested to Japan's Hitachi in 2020, said the company.
