T-Mobile US Inc. said it identified additional accounts that experienced a data breach, including 5.3 million current postpaid accounts and those of former customers.

The cellphone carrier previously said information from 7.8 million postpaid accounts that included first and last names, date of birth, Social Security number and ID information was compromised. It also previously reported that data files with information from about 40 million former or prospective T-Mobile customers were compromised.

The 5.3 million postpaid accounts had one or more associated names, addresses, date of births, phone numbers, international mobile subscriber identities and international mobile equipment identities illegally accessed, T-Mobile said Friday. Those accounts didn't have any Social Security numbers or ID information compromised, the company said.

The company said it also identified an additional 667,000 accounts of former T-Mobile customers that were accessed with names, phone numbers, addresses and dates of birth compromised. Those accounts didn't have any Social Security numbers or ID information compromised, the company said.

T-Mobile said it identified further stolen data files including phone numbers, international mobile subscriber identities and international mobile equipment identities that included no personally identifiable information. It said it continues to have no indication that the data contained in the stolen files included any information about customer finances, credit cards, debit or other payment details.

The company had said that about 850,000 active T-Mobile prepaid customer names, phone numbers and account PINs were exposed, after which it reset all of those accounts' PINs. It said Friday that up to 52,000 names related to current Metro by T-Mobile accounts could have been included. It said none of the data sets included personally identifiable information.
