Ethisphere honors the Un-carrier for its
commitment to ethical business standards and practices
For the eleventh straight year, T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) has been
recognized as one of the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies
by Ethisphere, a global leader in defining and advancing the
standards of ethical business practices. T-Mobile is one of 128
companies that earned this year’s prestigious award, underscoring
the Un-carrier’s long-standing commitment to leading with integrity
and prioritizing ethical business practices – for today and the
future.
“We’ve landed on this list for 11 straight years thanks to a
team of rock star T-Mobile heroes who really are committed every
single day to taking a stand, driving for change and – above all -
doing what’s right!” said John Legere, CEO of T-Mobile.
Since 2013, T-Mobile’s Un-carrier movement has changed the
wireless industry for good, bringing even more choices to customers
and putting their needs first by listening and advocating for
change. In 2018 the company’s announcement that it would be rolling
out its groundbreaking Team of Experts customer service model
nationwide turned the wireless industry on its head. TEX offers
postpaid customers direct and personal support through a dedicated
team of service specialists. The company then also doubled down on
its long-standing commitment to giving back and protecting the
environment, joining RE100 and earning accolades for its commitment
to use 100% green energy by 2021. The Un-carrier has also landed
nearly 60 national and local workplace awards in the last year
alone, including Best Places to Work honors for parents, diversity,
women, Hispanics and more -- and is ranked #49 on FORTUNE’s 100
Best Companies to Work For in 2019 list.
“Ethisphere continues to raise the bar on what it means to be an
ethical company year after year, so the fact that T-Mobile has
continued to get recognized for now the 11th year in a row means
they are also raising the bar, by constantly re-evaluating current
practices and exploring new ones,” said Ethisphere’s Chief
Executive Officer, Timothy Erblich. “I congratulate everyone at
T-Mobile for their leadership and commitment to ethical standards –
within the telecommunications industry and beyond!”
The thirteenth class of Ethisphere honorees profoundly
illustrate how companies continue to be the driving force for
improving communities, building capable and empowered workforces,
and fostering corporate cultures focused on ethics and a strong
sense of purpose.
The World's Most Ethical Companies assessment is based upon the
Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient® (EQ) framework, which
offers a quantitative way to assess a company’s performance in an
objective, consistent and standardized manner. The information
collected provides a comprehensive sampling of definitive criteria
of core competencies rather than all aspects of corporate
governance, risk, sustainability, compliance and ethics.
Scores are generated in five key categories: ethics and
compliance program (35 percent), culture of ethics (20 percent),
corporate citizenship and responsibility (20 percent), governance
(15 percent) and leadership and reputation (10 percent). All
companies that participate in the assessment process receive their
scores, providing them with valuable insights into how they stack
up against leading organizations.
