Facebook Inc. said it identified the cause of a widespread
outage of its Facebook, Messenger and Instagram platforms and had
started restoring full access to affected users.
In a statement just after midday Thursday, the social-media
giant blamed the issue on a problem in its central software
systems. After complaints from users started surfacing midmorning
Thursday on the East Coast, Facebook "quickly investigated, started
restoring access, and we're now monitoring for full recovery."

might take to restore full services to all users.
The Thanksgiving disruption follows a series of big outages

configuration error. That outage coincided with shorter disruptions
the same day at Apple Inc. and Alphabet Inc.'s Google.
In July, Facebook suffered through a daylong outage at Facebook,
