Facebook Inc. (FB) discussed a slew of efforts to improve the content on its platforms, including a "Group Quality" feature and an expansion of fact-checking efforts by the Associated Press.

The company said a "Click-Gap" signal in news feeds will help reduce "low-quality content" by tracking "domains with a disproportionate number of outbound Facebook clicks."

Facebook and Twitter Inc. (TWTR) have taken various steps to address issues including fake content and hate speech. In December, Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said the company has "fundamentally altered our DNA to focus more on preventing harm."

Facebook's efforts have ranged from expanded its "Local In" service for local news and information to cracking down on inauthentic likes and follows on its Instagram platform.

In a Wednesday update on its "remove, reduce and inform" efforts, the company said its plans for Facebook, Messenger and Instagram include expanding the news feed context button to images and "a collaborative process with outside experts to find new ways to fight more false news on Facebook, more quickly."

The company said it has grown its third-party fact-checking program to include 45 certified fact-checking partners who review content in 24 languages.
