STMicroelectronics NV said Monday that it has partnered with
Schneider Electric SE to work on reaching carbon neutrality by
2027.
The European chip maker said it will work with the French
energy-management company to reduce the power it uses in its
manufacturing and design sites, develop a strategy around sourcing
renewable energy across all of its locations and implement programs
for carbon avoidance and removal.
Under the new agreement, the companies will develop additional
joint products, technologies and solutions focused on
energy-efficiency improvement, it added.
The company pledged last week to become carbon neutral by 2027.
It aims to halve its direct and indirect greenhouse-gas emissions
compared to 2018 and to only source renewable energy to power its
operations by 2027.
