AXA SA (CS.FR) said Thursday that the agreement for the sale of its nonlife business in Azerbaijan, AXA MBask Insurance Company OJSC, fell through.

The company "has ceased underwriting new insurance business and will exclusively administer the inforce portfolio with the purpose of terminating its insurance activities in Azerbaijan as soon as practicable, while preserving the interest of its existing clients in Azerbaijan," the French insurer said.
