Aegon N.V. (AGN.AE) said Monday that it has appointed NN Group N.V.'s CEO (NN.AE) Lard Friese as its new chief executive, subject to approval by the company's shareholders.

The Dutch insurance and asset-management company said Mr. Friese will join the company as CEO-designate effective from March 1, 2020.

Mr. Friese will succeed current Aegon Chief Executive Alex Wynaendts at next year's annual general meeting on May 15, the company said.
