Enel SpA said Thursday that its renewable subsidiary Enel Green Power North America, Inc. has started to expand a wind farm in the U.S. and connected two others to the power grid in Canada.

The Rome-based energy company said it has begun a 50-megawatts expansion of the High Lonesome wind farm in Upton and Crockett counties in Texas. This increases the project's total capacity to 500 MW and brings its overall investment to around $720 million.

The company also said it has connected its 105 MW Riverview and 29.4 MW Castle Rock Ridge II wind farms in Alberta, Canada to the grid. The total investment for both projects amounts to over 210 million Canadian dollars ($150.95 million).
