SYDNEY--BHP Group Ltd. said group copper-equivalent production rose 2% in the September quarter, and it largely kept its production and unit-cost guidance unchanged for fiscal 2021.

The company said production guidance is under review at its Cerrejon coal mine in Colombia, however, due to an ongoing strike. It added that all guidance is subject to further potential impacts from the coronavirus pandemic.

BHP also said that its major projects under development in petroleum, copper and iron ore are tracking well.

"BHP has started the new financial year with a strong first quarter of safety and production performance," BHP Chief Executive Mike Henry said. "Group production rose 2% from a year ago driven by solid results in metallurgical coal and iron ore."
