General Electric Co., Raytheon Technologies Corp., Boeing Co., Lockheed Martin Corp. and Northrop Grumman Corp. were each awarded contracts of up to $975 million from the U.S. Air Force.

The contracts are for work under the prototype phase of the Next Generation Adaptive Propulsion program, with a focus on delivering capability enabling propulsion systems for future air dominance platforms and digitally transforming the propulsion industrial base, the U.S. Department of Defense said Friday.

The work is expected to be complete by July 11, 2032.

General Electric's work will be performed in Cincinnati, and Raytheon will complete its work in East Hartford, Conn. Boeing will work in St. Louis. Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman will fulfill their contracts in Palmdale, Calif.
