“Today’s digital workplace demands are such that companies need solutions that are fast, easy to use and enable productivity, and our new printers and software are designed to do just that,” said George Toh, vice president, Dell Imaging. “At Dell, we are always listening to our customers, which is why we’re so excited to offer both our latest Color Smart Printers and our innovative new solution of OpenManage Printer Essentials.”

The S3840cdn is a color, single-function laser printer, and the S3845cdn is a color, multifunction laser printer that allows users to copy, scan and fax quickly, all within one device.

Both models were made to meet the needs of medium to large businesses with heavy-duty use, such as banking institutions, schools and government offices. Dell’s new Color Smart printers are designed to drive workplace efficiency while being easy to use, quick, reliable and secure.

Easy to use and reliable performance

Both printers come with an adjustable five-inch capacitive touch screen control panel that tilts for easy viewing. Users can print up-to-date documents and forms in Microsoft SharePoint On-Premise folders with direct access from the printer for efficient printing and sharing or print wirelessly via an optional wireless adapter. A variety of sizes and weights of paper are supported, meaning one model can fit a wide range of needs within a single business. Both printers are able to deliver native 1200x1200 dpi print resolution for consistently high quality graphics and crisp text. The Dell S3845cdn is able to scan documents quickly and effortlessly with the single-pass, dual-head Duplex Automatic Document Feeder (DADF).

Efficient in terms of time, space and energy saved

Dell’s OMPE is an innovative print management solution that significantly decreases fleet setup time and allows quick and easy fleet management. Software installation and download time is reduced by up to 60 percent and printer discovery is up to eight times faster than Dell’s previous print management solution. OMPE now saves hard drive space with a smaller software package, and copy configuration allows IT managers to clone printer settings across fleets for simple setup.

Both Color Smart printers meet the latest regulatory and environmental standards, including ENERGY STAR qualification, Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliance and EPEAT Silver registration.

Convenient fleet setup and management

Dell’s OMPE makes managing fleets easy and efficient, without sacrificing stability. One centralized, easy-to-use dashboard gives real-time print job and error information, the ability to generate intuitive custom reports and easy ticket integration with innovative service desk platforms. Reports and alerts can be scheduled to be generated on a regular basis and sent via email, ensuring that IT managers are always kept updated on important print fleet information. Proactive management tools keep firmware up-to-date, track and predict toner depletion and automatically send notifications regarding warranty expirations. IT managers can view, change settings, and control printers remotely from a PC using the new easy-to-use, web-design Embedded Web Service (EWS) interface. EWS also helps IT to clone the printer settings of one device to multiple devices within an organization, saving time and effort.

Proactive security features

Both of the new Color Smart printers come with built-in Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for data encryption and greater security. Proactive firmware updates keep fleets up-to-date automatically. Secure print release requiring a four-digit PIN, Embedded Web Server access control, local and remote user authentication, and physical security features, like lock slots for input trays, are all available for a full suite of customizable security options.
