The public company Metro de Madrid S.A., part of the Regional Transport Consortium has named GOWEX ( GOW -MAB, NYSE Alternext ALGOW , LGWXY OTC Market ), the leading company in building Wireless Smart Cities ®, as management and operation manager of the free WiFi network which will be available at the main underground stations of the Spanish capital.

Through the new WiFi connection service provided by GOWEX, the Metro de Madrid is positioned as a leader through smart transportation services by improving the passengers' quality service and refining the traveler experience.

The new WiFi network projects adds up GOWEX on promotion and collaboration with public and private entities such as the City of Madrid in public spaces or the Municipal Transport Company with over 2,000 WiFi buses, turning Madrid into a greater Wireless Smart City with a free connection in public spaces, newsagents, public transport, cafes, etc.

Free WiFi in the main metro stations

Over two million passengers that use the Metro every day will enjoy the new free WiFi service and geolocated content on the platforms and corridors of ten major stations in the city. Nuevos Ministerios is the third station with most number of annual users (42.8 millions), after Sol and Avenida de America, and will be the first free WiFi station from July of this year. The goal is to implement the service in the other stations progressively at others Metro stations.

The remaining stations will be selected jointly by the two companies, according to the passengers demand, stations' unique interests and a technical feasibility of the implementation. The intention is to benefit the largest number of travelers. The project will have two phases: the first trimester will be to implement the project and the next twelve months will offer the connection in order travelers can use on the Metro.

In recent years, Metro de Madrid has been offering complementary services to its travelers with high added value such as the creation of several retail and leisure spaces, and different services (stands, libraries, etc.), looking forward to create spaces providing greater comfort during the passengers' trips. Following this objective, GOWEX will provide Metro network users mobility and flexibility in the WiFi connection, ensuring a high quality bandwidth, safe access and large capacity of management and service control.
