UK construction PMI advanced more than expected in May

In the UK, the construction PMI rose to a reading of 64.20 in May, compared to a level of 61.60 in the previous month. Markets were expecting the construction PMI to rise to 62.30.

Euro-zone retail sales declined more than anticipated in April

In the Euro-zone, retail sales fell 3.10% on a MoM basis in April, compared to a revised rise of 3.30% in the prior month. Markets were expecting retail sales to fall by 1.20%.

US unemployment rate fell more than expected in May

In the US, the unemployment rate dropped to 5.80% in May, compared to a rate of 6.10% in the prior month. Markets were expecting the unemployment rate to drop to 5.90%.

US factory orders dropped more than anticipated in April

In the US, factory orders fell 0.60% on a monthly basis in April, compared to a revised rise of 1.40% in the prior month. Markets were the factory orders expecting a fall of 0.20%.

US nonfarm payrolls rose less than expected in May

In the US, nonfarm payrolls climbed by 559.00K in May, compared to a revised level of 278.00K jobs in April. Markets had anticipated nonfarm payrolls to rise by 650.00K.
