Father's Day is not for another two
months, but Madison-area dads who
are looking to have a fun-filled day with their children can do
just that at the Day with Dad event that is being held this
Saturday, April 22.
Presented by Zimbrick, the 17th annual Day with Dad
event will be taking place at the Keva Sports Center in
Middleton, WI. The event will run
from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Kids of all
ages are encouraged to join in on the fun with their dad or
granddad, but moms are welcome too. No registration is needed, and
drop-ins are welcome, however, children must be accompanied by an
adult if under 18 years of age.
There will be a number of activities taking place during the Day
with Dad event, including sports such as soccer, basketball,
football and more. There will be a live DJ, inflatables and local
first responders. The UW-Wisconsin and Marquette teams will be present to play
Quidditch with the kids, and there will also be a number of local
vendors providing free samples throughout the day.
The event is free, though participants are encouraged to bring
cash donations or new or gently used books. All cash and book
donations will benefit the REACH-A-CHILD foundation—a charity that
works with first responders to ensure that they have the necessary
tools to reach children in crisis.
This year, the fundraising goal is $2,500. The hope is to raise enough money to
provide the Middleton and
Cross Plains Police Department
with six backpacks for their police cars, as well as ten additional
backpacks for the police cars in the Town
of Madison. The backpacks are filled with books and other
items that can help to take children's minds off the situation when
there is a crisis taking place.
