Sunspire Health Texas, a community-based addiction treatment center within Sunspire Health’s nationwide network of treatment facilities offering personalized treatment and addiction recovery services, announced the appointment of Victor Vines, MD, as Medical Director. In this role, Dr. Vines will oversee medical and psychiatric care for patients in residential treatment for substance use and behavioral addictions at Sunspire Health Texas.

With more than 29 years of medical and behavioral health experience, Dr. Vines specializes in assessing and treating licensed professionals employed in safety sensitive careers, such as healthcare professionals, pilots, attorneys, and other licensed professionals. He has been involved in the development of protocols and best practices for detox management in people with addiction to alcohol, opioids and benzodiazepines, and previously founded Denton County’s Caduceus 12 step meeting for recovering professionals. Prior to his role at Sunspire Health Texas, Dr. Vines served as Associate Medical Director at The Greenhouse in Grand Prairie as well as Staff Addictionologist at the Santé Center for Healing in Argyle, among other leadership positions at industry and academic organizations.

Dr. Vines is a Diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine and a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Prior to his career in addiction medicine, he practiced obstetrics and gynecology, receiving a Medical Doctorate degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.
