UP—Ann Arbor Michigan's homegrown fast casual salad restaurant—has
upped the ante by announcing the opening of its second location in
Madison, Wisconsin. Located at 439
N. Frances St., this new location signifies the development of
Salads UP's plan to expand across Big Ten campuses. Salads UP will
celebrate its grand opening with several VIP events beginning
Wednesday, October 5th.
The restaurant will open its doors to the general public on
Monday, October 10th, at
8:00 a.m. CST.
Salads UP was founded by two class of 2013 University of Michigan graduates who saw a need for
a quick, delicious, and healthier restaurant alternative at their
University. S'UP customers can choose from an array of tasty salads
and panini-pressed wraps, along with smoothies and sides. Customers
also have the ability to "Mix it UP" by crafting their own salads
and wraps, or can select from their Signature Salad options. The
growing restaurant brand recently introduced a breakfast menu
featuring a handful of egg wraps and breakfast bowls. The breakfast
bowls have bases of either breakfast quinoa, oatmeal, or Greek
yogurt, with an exciting assortment of toppings ranging from apples
and graham crackers, to pretzels and peanut butter
drizzle.
"The concept is fast-casual health food," said co-founder
Max Steir. "Customers go through a
queuing system that acts similarly to the line at Chipotle. They
watch directly as salads are chopped, paninis are pressed, and
smoothies are blended right out in the open."
Regarding opening Salads UP, co-founder Robert Mayer added, "In Michigan we saw a need
for a high quality, delicious meal that was also fast, and thus,
could fit into the busy lives of college students. All of our
cooking and preparation is done on site every day, with an emphasis
on featuring local ingredients. This includes everything from soups
and dressings made from scratch as well as chicken, steak, and
shrimp roasted in-house. This attention to quality separates us
from many of the restaurants students may traditionally find on
their campuses."
