SMK Electronics (Europe) Ltd., a division of SMK Corporation (Japan) announced today that SMK will manufacture, market and support the IP500 RF Dual-Band Module (CNX200) with highest security and performance of the IP500 Mesh Network for use in commercial building automation applications. Deployed in mission-critical facility applications, the IP500 module (CNX200) furthers the global IP500 Alliance standard for safety and security systems.

“SMK Electronics is actively expanding its role in facility automation, building security and HEMS applications,” said Paul Evans, President, SMK Electronics Corporation. “Through our partnership with CoreNetiX GmbH, SMK will globally manufacture the RF IP500 Module (CNX200), enabling high-speed data transfer for critical facility systems, and furthering the IP500 Alliance standard for commercial automation applications.”

“We are delighted with our selection of SMK Electronics to manufacture and globally market the worldwide most robust IP500 Dual Band RF Module,” said Helmut Adamski, Chief Executive Officer, IP500 Alliance. “Commercial facility automation is a rapidly-expanding global opportunity, driven in large part by the emergence of the IP500 Alliance standard. Through the partnership between SMK and CoreNetiX, the IP500 Alliance has enhanced the IP500 Standard, expanded the manufacturing capabilities for highest volumes, and extended our marketing reach for IP500 activities: all required to service this emerging global IoT market opportunity.”

The IP500 Module & and the IP500 Alliance

IP500 is a wireless mesh network standard endorsed by the IP500 Alliance, achieving low-power consumption, high speed transfer, and high security with a new communication standard called LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) which is becoming popular with IoT business expansion. The appropriate market of IP500 would be security such as fire and intrusion detection, and would be suitable for smart city, smart grid, wearable device, smart factory and home. As it has achieved confirmation with the EN regulations for fire-safety standard within Europe, it is expected to be used in Building Security, HEMS, or any other fields requiring high reliability.

The IP500 Alliance is an international organization of building automation manufacturers. The organization’s IP500 standard, a non-proprietary, high-performance, secure building automation platform, supports commercial wireless protocols including IEEE 802.15.4-2006, 6LoWPAN, IPv6, IPSec, BACnet, and AES128, IP500®, to ensure maximum interoperability and specification of client wireless interface protocols.
