Brazil's Petroleo Brasileiro SA (PBR), or Petrobras, reported
emissions linked to a gasoline-making fluid catalytic cracking unit
at its Pasadena refinery in Texas.
In a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality,
the refinery said the emissions began Saturday, lasted about seven
hours and were caused by "a change in unit operating
conditions."
The source of the emissions was an FCCU and an electrostatic
precipitator stack, and that it followed procedures "to minimize
emissions until unit operations were restored," the refinery
said.
The 106,000-barrel-a-day refinery is located in the Houston
area.
