India Wholesale Price Inflation Eases More Than Forecast

India's wholesale price inflation eased at a
faster-than-expected pace in July, preliminary data from the
Ministry of Commerce & Industry showed Tuesday.
Wholesale prices climbed 5.09 percent year-over-year in July,
slower than the 5.77 percent rise in June. That was below the
expected increase of 5.22 percent.
Build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 2.92
percent compared to a build up rate of 0.62 percent in the
corresponding period of the previous year.
The index for primary articles rose 4.82 percent annually in
July and prices of food articles grew by 6.25 percent.
On a monthly basis, wholesale prices increased 0.4 percent in
July.
