ROCK HILL, S.C., Sept. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- 3D Systems (NYSE:
DDD), the originator of 3D printing, has been selected as a 2018
recipient of the Cellerant Best of Class Technology Award for its
NextDentTM 5100. This dental-specific 3D printer -
powered by 3D Systems' Figure 4™ technology - has been uniquely
designed for use with the industry-leading NextDent brand of
biocompatible materials, and enables dental labs and clinics to
address a greater number of dental indications at speeds up to 4x
faster than other available solutions. This one of a kind
combination further reduces material waste and capital equipment
expenditure, as well as reliance upon milling centers.
The NextDent 5100 is compatible with industry-leading intra-oral
scanning and dental software solutions, delivering more precise
results than conventional manual production techniques. This
end-to-end digital workflow also provides higher and more
predictable uptime, with a significant reduction in risk for the
operator. Benefits also extend to the patient by reducing the time
it takes to produce prosthodontic and orthodontic devices, as well
as the number of required office visits.
The Best of Class Technology Awards were launched in 2009 as a
new concept to provide an unbiased, non-profit assessment of
available technologies in the dental space. The selection process
is rigorous, unbiased, nonprofit, and transparent. The award
recipients are selected by a panel of the most prominent technology
leaders in dentistry: Paul
Feuerstein, DMD; John Flucke,
DDS; Marty Jablow, DMD; Pam Maragliano-Muniz, DMD; Chris Salierno, DDS; and Lou Shuman, DMD. Dr. Shuman, CEO of Cellerant
Consulting Group and previously the president of Pride Institute,
is the creator of the award.
The NextDent 5100 is complemented by a portfolio of 30 unique
NextDent resins – the largest number available from any 3D printing
dental material supplier. Offered in a variety of aesthetic colors,
these materials enable dental labs and clinics to provide finished
products that closely match the patient's own teeth and gums. All
NextDent dental 3D printing materials are biocompatible, FDA-listed
and CE-certified, making them suitable for a wide range of
applications. The materials are also registered in various other
countries.
"We are honored to be recognized for this innovation which is
transforming digital dentistry," said Rik Jacobs, vice
president, general manager, dental, 3D Systems. "The NextDent 5100
is already in-market with dental labs and clinics across the world
achieving remarkable results."
"The Cellerant Best of Class Technology Award continues to
highlight the innovative dental technologies that will help shape
the future of our profession," said Dr. Lou
Shuman.
"The award winners have revolutionized, simplified, or advanced
their category in a meaningful way," said Dr. John Flucke, Cellerant CDO and Best of Class
panel member. "We also make sure that winning technologies work in
our actual practice settings, providing confidence in recommending
them to our peers."
