MEADVILLE, Pa., Aug. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "Backpacking
with God: In Our National Parks": an exhilarating highlight reel of
the author's decades of outdoor adventures. "Backpacking with God:
In Our National Parks" is the creation of published author
David B. Connor, a retired USPS
window clerk, former Navy man, storm spotter for the National
Weather Service, and an avid kayaker. Connor puts God first as he
mountain-hikes year-round and paddles the many lakes and streams of
New Hampshire.
Connor shares the pivotal moment his passion for hiking
awakened: "The year was 1983. That's when it all started, but the
seed had lain dormant since the summer of 1962. That is when at the
ripe old age of fifteen, I'd been fortunate to have accompanied my
grandparents and aunt on a trip to the Pacific Northwest and the
Canadian Rockies. Something happened to me with that first sighting
of Mt. Rainier. The magnificent image of that 14,410-foot peak is
indelibly and forever impressed upon my memory. Upon arrival at
Paradise Inn, the mountain was shrouded in a stubborn cloud cover
so we drove around looking for wildlife and flowers. I gotta tell
ya, a fifteen-year-old is not interested in flowers. I wanted to
see that mountain! I remember being glued to the car window, nose
pressed to the glass, eyes transfixed to the bank of clouds, which
I knew hid the mountain from my view. Just one glimpse, one parting
of the clouds, one small break, and it would be there."
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, David B. Connor's new book is a thrilling memoir
of travel and faith. The story follows the author's journey as he
spends the eighties, nineties, and early 2000s in breathtaking
surroundings.
Inspired by God's glorious creation and full of spiritual
insights on the way, Connor takes the reader on an adventure that
will bring a grown man to his knees before God.
