DIRECTOR APPOINTMENT

LONDON, UK, 13 December 2011 - Optos PLC (LSE: OPTS), a leading retinal imaging company, is today confirming that John G. Goddard, a Non-Executive Director of the Company, has been appointed as a Director of MELA Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: MELA), with effect from 08 December 2011. This announcement is intended to fulfill the Company's continuing obligations under LR 9.6.14(2). No further disclosures are required under the Listing Rules with respect to the appointment.
