Steve Odland will become the chief executive and president of the Conference Board, the corporate membership group that produces research on topics such as consumer sentiment and labor demand.

Mr. Odland, who takes the position in September, is the former chairman and CEO of Office Depot Inc. (OD) and AutoZone Inc. (AZO). He replaces Jon Spector, who has been in the role since 2007. Mr. Spector will become a senior advisor to the Conference Board.

Mr. Odland currently serves as a member of the board and chair of the governance committees of General Mills Inc. (GIS) and Analogic Inc. (ALOG).
