Google Inc. (GOOG) continued its easy dominance of the U.S.
Internet-search market in June, but Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) saw its
share inch up, according to market researcher comScore Inc.
(SCOR).
Google's U.S. market share rose 0.1 percentage points to 66.8%
in June from the previous month, while Microsoft's share edged up
0.2 percentage points to 15.6%. Yahoo Inc. (YHOO) saw its market
share fall 0.4 percentage points to 13%. The percentage of searches
using IAC/InterActiveCorp.'s (IACI) Ask Network and AOL Inc. (AOL)
stayed flat.
Americans conducted 17.1 billion core searches last month, down
2% from May. Google sites ranked first, with 11.4 billion searches,
followed by Microsoft with 2.7 billion and Yahoo with 2.2
billion.
ComScore measures U.S. explicit core searches, which exclude
contextual searches that don't reflect any intent by users.
