DENVER, Aug. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Colorado Pain Care,
the region's leading pain specialists providing comprehensive and
individual treatment for chronic and acute pain using
state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and techniques, announced today
that Lauren McLaughlin, D.O., has
joined its team of board-certified anesthesiologists.
Founded by Drs. Jason Krutch,
M.D. and Robert Moghim, M.D.,
Colorado Pain Care (CPC) is expanding its multidisciplinary
approach to patient treatment to now include Dr. McLaughlin's
expertise, cancer pain care.
"It's rare to find doctors who specialize in treating cancer
patient pain. We are excited to have Dr. McLaughlin join our
practice," said Colorado Pain Care CEO, Dr. Moghim. "She is
dedicated to the individual and compassionate care of these
patients whose pain is often undertreated."
"Pain associated with the diagnosis of cancer is particularly
stressful for patients," said Dr. McLaughlin. "I feel it is very
important that we accept the patient's description of their pain,
fatigue and distress as the immediate focus of the care we plan to
deliver."
Colorado Pain Care uses a large number of treatment options in
its four-prong approach to treating pain patients: Medication
Management, Minimally Invasive Procedures, Physical Therapy and
Cognitive Behavior Therapy. This coordinated care is employed to
decrease opioid usage and improve quality of life for patients.
"Caring for cancer patients and appreciating the courage and
fortitude these patients and their families demonstrate helped me
to focus on my practice in these special circumstances," said Dr.
McLaughin. She attributes these experiences and the guidance of
dedicated and skilled mentors in her decision to join Colorado Pain
Care.
During her anesthesiology residency at the University of Colorado in Denver, Dr. McLaughlin
was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She said the
honor of receiving this distinction was multiplied by her thoughts
of the many of clinicians, nurses and pharmacists whose unseen
efforts to care for those in need is deserving of such an
award.
Dr. McLaughlin earned her medical degree in 2013 from Rocky
Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Centennial, Colorado. In 2014, she completed
her medical internship at Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital in
Denver, Colorado. She completed
her anesthesiology residency at the University
of Colorado in Denver, followed by her interventional pain
fellowship in 2018.
"I look at my occupation as a calling," said Dr. McLaughlin, "I
appreciate the trust patients and their families place in me."
