British Gas owner Centrica PLC (CNA.LN) said Thursday that Mark Hanafin, chief executive of Centrica Business, will retire from the company next March after over 10 years of service.

Centrica said it has started a search for Mr. Hanafin's successor. Mr. Hanafin will step down from the PLC board when a successor is in place and after an appropriate handover, it said.

Shares at 1205 GMT were up 0.6% at 161.70 pence.
