(Updates with outage resolution, comment from a Barclays)

By Adam Clark

Technical problems that Barclays PLC's (BARC.LN) online banking and some of its branch services experienced Thursday have been resolved, and normal service has resumed, the bank said.

The British lender's mobile services weren't affected by the problems, and neither were cash withdrawals or card payments. However, the bank said online and telephone services were unavailable.

According to its U.K. website, online banking services had been down since late morning, local time.

"We're very sorry about the technical problems our customers have experienced today," Barclays said in a statement. "Everything is now back up and running, and we're really grateful for customers bearing with us."

U.K. regulators warned in July that they may push banks to define acceptable maximum outage times after Banco de Sabadell SA's (SAB.MC) U.K. business TSB Bank suffered a prolonged outage in April that led to a 176.4 million-pound ($234 million) charge, largely due to compensation costs.
