Loading Preset Screens

Preset Screens are grouped under 3 main categories: (a) Growth Screens, (b) Value Screens and (c) Value&Growth Screens.

We chose those particular categories to classify preset screens to keep consistent with the existing stock-screening methodology, which is broadly used today by private investors and professionals/academics. To summarize, Value screening focuses on price-multiples, earnings and dividend yields in an attempt to identify profitable companies that are misspriced due to an overreaction of the market. On the other hand, Growth screens look at price, sales and earning growth rates and try to discover profitable and rapidly growing companies with strong price momentum. The Value&Growth category consists of hybrid screens of the two previously mentioned categories.

For example, let us assume you select the preset screen of "Growth Essentials".

By clicking on a preset (either on the title, or on the 'Click here' prompt) you are directed to the core-page of ADVFN Screener.
What can you see here?

Starting from the top, you see the following:

  1. The control-desk of variables (6 drop-down menus)

  2. The monitor of screen (title and formula)

  3. The panel of results (table of companies)
The control-desk contains all the screening criteria of the tool (see Breakdown of Screening Criteria) listed in 6 drop-down menus.

On the screen's monitor area you see the title of the screen currently in view - in this case, "Growth Essentials" - and by clicking on the 'More' information text placed next to it, a pop-up description of the screen in question will appear. Just below the title you can see its formula, where it explicitly states the constrained variables (in blue print), which have been used to create this screen.

Further down you can see the panel of results, containing all the companies that qualified for the "Growth Essentials" screen.
