Stock Quotes
A stock quote is the value of one share in a company that can be traded on a stock exchange. It is comprised of a bid price and an offer price.
The bid price is the best available price to sell a stock, and the offer price is the best available price to buy a stock. The difference between the bid and the offer is called the bid-offer spread, or simply the spread.
Stocks are often referred to as being up or down by a certain amount or percentage. This figure is the difference between the current value of the stock and its value when the market closed on the previous day.
