Forex trading is the buying and selling of foreign currencies. Traders range from private individuals to large banks, who trade several billion dollars every day.
A large proportion of transactions on the forex market are done speculatively, meaning the trader does intend to take physical delivery of the currency but is hoping to profit from the movement in price.
The forex market is much larger than the stock market, with $1 to $2 trillion worth of currency traded daily.
