PARIS (AFX) - Accor SA said its Sofitel Magic Lagoon hotel in Khao Lak, on
the Thai island of Phuket, was hit by the tidal waves that struck southeastern
and southern Asia yesterday, resulting in some deaths.
"The initial accounts we have gathered indicate several victims at the
Sofitel," Accor said.
A company spokeswoman was unable to provide a number of victims, nor could
she say if the victims were guests or employees of the hotel.
Other Accor hotels in the region were not damaged, the company said.
