spiv 1,
I wouldn't pay too much attention to what "James at Cornhill" says, I doubt he knows about any news, as he would be in possession of price sensitive information.
I bought FGML through Cornhill, and every time I wanted to sell they told me the same sort of thing, and eventually I had to be fairly blunt to make them sell my stock. Then it tanked!
One of the problems of using this type of broker, IMHO, is that they pursuade you to buy in the first place, then try and prevent you from selling by saying there is "buying" and "news coming", and it can become a battle of wits.
IMHO the thing to do is if you decide you want to sell, insist you want to sell, and ignore what the dealer is saying, otherwise they will hold you in.
