Very useful obeservations Harvester,
-Now if we could get you to report every day for 3-4 months ? thats what would be needed.
Today's radio news summarises your view, ovr the whole of retailing this Xmas.
Note the rise of 14p today is on low volume and not that many buys. It might be a sucker who buys today.
I wonder if NXT were very clever and put the prices up before Xmas or not... I can not tell.
Surely their regular customers would be wise enough to notice that and would not be among todays sales buyers, so defeating the purpose? After all I saw a table I wanted at 600 pounds last month, if it was 700 pounds on Xmas eve I'd not be a buyer at 600 today.
In addition there is the competition this year from OTHER CUTPRICE retailers, eg MKS. That should clinch the argument against higher pre xmas prices?
If they did then they could have decent figures next week.. but remember the long autumn period was very thin for sales of clothing, worse than usual over several weeks. Comments from anyone else in retailing here?
I'm still gambling on figures poorer than last year or more likely, reflect a recent estimate that 'they would be around 2% better'- which is a figure I latched on to weeks ago, and I'll remind the thread that if that were the case the stock is not worthy of the 1100 level and could well retreat into the 900's in coming weeks.
BUT I do not KNOW .
cheers
Hector
