Former footballer Lee Sharpe has been awarded libel damages over a claim that he had sex with a model in front of friends at a party.

The former England and Manchester United star will receive undisclosed damages after The News of the World admitted the story was untrue.

The paper reported that Mr Sharpe, 34, had sex with student Louise Redpath at a party in a Los Angeles hotel while a crowd of people looked on.

But in court Mr Sharpe admitted that like his former Manchester United colleagues, he had been unable to get it up for the big occasion!
