Decent wee article
E.ON Ruhrgas, the German sister company of E.ON UK, said that it would continue to supply Britain even if gas prices were higher in Britain than Germany.
E.ON UK said that in theory there could be a rapid increase in forward gas prices for January, February and March this month, if gas traders fear that supplies will be disrupted.
“If we got a cold snap then we could see wholesale gas prices go through the roof,” a spokesman said, adding that if wholesale prices rose further, more price rises for customers could not be ruled out.
The pessimistic assumption is that the row could continue until after the Ukranian election in March — that is, effectively until the end of the German winter. That would seriously drain German gas reserves which are supposed to last for 75 days.
