"There's good news too for North Sea driller Venture Production (VPC), which has upped its daily production rate beyond the magic 50,000 barrels mark. This is thanks to a series of oil and gas developments this year, including the South Sycamore well, which came on stream 12 days ago. Especially pleasing is the mix - roughly 55% of Venture's production is gas, which hit 180 million cubic feet a day recently, which 60% being sold at blisteringly high spot prices.
UK gas prices have soared in the past couple of months to beyond 80p a therm. No doubt Venture's share price, just 11p off its all-time high, will warm the cockles of shareholders' hearts."
