Gazprom isn't lowering supplies to the west. (The uk doesn't use any russian gas). It's cutting Ukraines share unless it pays market prices like other western states. The Gas is still flowing through the pipeline. It's up to Ukraine whether in due course they steal it.
At the end of the day, if there is heavy investment coming in from the West into Ukraine - Why on earth should Gazprom subsidise it at Eastern bloc prices especially as Gazprom have to move to a market where they must satisfy their own shareholders and act responsibly as a company especially as foreign investors like you and me can soon invest in Gazprom other than through ADRs. The fact that Russia is and has to increase gas prices inside it's own country is for the better.
This has no real relevance to VOG other than good. If the gas price was being cut both in Russia and to the west - i could see how it would not be good. It isn't though. It needs to be kept in perspective.
