Northern Petroleum rose 8p to 51½p after exercising three options to develop oil and gas discoveries in Holland under an agreement with a Dutch company jointly owned by Royal Dutch Shell and ExxonMobil. Northern is now operating five discoveries in Holland.
Aim-listed Victoria Oil & Gas began nudging back toward its high for the year of 129p with a rise of 10p to 124½p. The group has raised £13.1m through a placing of 16.8m shares at 78p that was two-and-a-half times oversubscribed.
Meanwhile, directors of the exploration outfit operating in Russia have acquired a total of 867,932 shares at 78p with 34,038 shares acquired in lieu of salary. A further 401,751 shares were acquired at 105p yesterday.
William Kelleher has bought 559,038 shares taking his total holding to 4.8m, or 4.5% of the company, while Kevin Foo has acquired an extra 180,000 and now speaks for 2.5m.
