SHB - wonder what VOG relations are like with Nadymneftegaz who are nearby loaded with the stuff ? ? ?
Pretty good i assume.... ( I would say so as eventually VOG will want to connect to the existing shared Gas pipelines)
What other O&Gs are present in the Nadym-Pur province ?
This postcard is one of a collection of cards commemorating the 25th anniversary of the founding of Nadym. "Nadym" means "happiness" and "reindeer moss" in the Nentsy language.
Like the few other towns in the region, Nadym owes its existence to the enormous natural gas and condensate resources of the YNAO. In the early 1970s construction began of a small settlement to accommodate all those needed to develop and operate the nearby Medvezh'ye gas-condensate field. Medvezh'ye was discovered in 1966 and commissioned in 1972. Medvezh'ye and several other fields are operated by Gazprom's Nadymgazprom subsidiary. Nadymgazprom is based in Nadym, which is also the administrative centre of Nadymskiy Rayon (district).
Today, Nadym's population is roughly 48,000 making it the third largest town in the YNAO after Noyabr'sk and Novyy Urengoy. Unlike Yamburg (a shift-settlement), but similar to Noyabr'sk and Novyy Urengoy, the majority of Nadym's inhabitants are permanent residents. Although it is extremely remote and virtually inaccessible to all forms of transport other than aircraft, it has all the amenities one would expect of a modern town.
The extreme climate makes life tough here but for those residents of the YNAO associated with the gas industry (that includes virtually everyone in the okrug apart from the indigenous population) life is better than elsewhere in Russia.
