I work within the NHS mental health services as a Consultant Psychiatrist and requested a BTB demo pack from the company in mid Nov 2003. The CDROM and the promotional material arrived in a week's time with a letter saying a marketing rep would call....to date there has been no contact. This may be a slip up, but if they want to try and get more NHS Trusts on board, they need to get their marketing act together.
I have passed on the demo disc to some clients for feedback...as at the end of the day Joe Public will decide whether it works or not, whether they want it or not...even if there is published "evidence" of its efficacy and NICE may say a kind word or two.
On the other hand, Trusts may be forced to get on the BTB bandwagon because of peer pressure and be seen to be proactive about offering choice to clients and being innovative in reducing waiting lists for anxiety and depression....the decision will largely depend on initial outlay, recurring licencing and other costs, pressure from service user groups and GPs thru' the Primary Care Trusts.
Waiting and watching.....but not invested as yet. Has anyone got figures re licencing costs etc ?
