19 December 2005: Depression Causes Enormous Costs To European Society
Study concludes that the total cost of depression in 28 European countries is estimated at €118 billion in 2004. This corresponds to 1 percent of the total size of the economy of the countries studied. 28 November 2005: Doctors prescribe 29 million anti-depressants to patients
The amount spent on anti-depressants has soared from £25million 20 years ago to £400million last year. More than two million people in Britain are now taking anti-depressants.
