that's a good point. Would be intersting to see how many people would be happy for the government to raise tax to provide massive relief.

Personally I have always felt that there should be several one off fixed taxes. So say this year every working person is taxed £50 and that is given directly to say the health department or schools or split between both. And that it is continued until we catch up with the level of investment needed. Simplistic view I know, but again would be interesting to see how many would be happy for that:-)
