I wish people would stop making comments about what they do not understand.
'Geologists' would not have known that a tsunami had been created by this Earthquake. So how could they inform anyone? and anyway it's normally seismologists who study earthquakes and not geologists!

The tsunami alert in India, is a good example of how a false alert can do more harm than good. It sounds like it would be a good idea to get a basic monitoring system in place now, maybe on the Nicobar Islands, so at least if another tsunami does form (very unlikely) after an aftershock, officials have some reliable information.
