Sojourno - Thu, 28 Dec 06 :

Thanks David... Will give SUB a butcher's.

Vizz... A good thing IMO we're not racing north today, RSI needs to drop a bit before the next RNS without the SP falling too much or we'll stumble at the next resistance. Unless that is the RNS is unexpected or better than expected.

Holmess... Speed and clarity is king. A stopped down bright lens will improve clarity further. Good glass improves contrast, Apochromatics have come down a bit in price. I'd also get an Apo refracting telescope (mirrored optics are the death of clarity) but they're a few Łk as well (Google: televue 127).

So. Remember the Apollo Report? Commisioned by the EU and conducted through VTI Technologies in Finland if I recall. Two lttle snippets that might allude to something coming our way:-

(2005, pages 6/7)

"Growth in new application areas
Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems
(TPMS) constitute an important growth
segment for VTI sensors. Market growth
is driven by development in the United
States. Growth in the US is fuelled by
recently introduced legislation requiring
that new cars will have to be equipped
with tire pressure measurement systems.
The requirements by the law are,
however, fairly loose, which has led
vehicle manufacturers to use less-than accurate,
indirect measurement systems
and battery-operated pressure modules
that have been fastened to the wheel
rim or valve.
VTI is investing in low-power and
ultra-accurate tire pressure measurement
for next-generation batteryless
systems that genuinely improve driving
safety and economy. The emergence of
such systems in the market is expected
as soon as in 2007. VTI aims at securing
a strong position as the sensor supplier
for these systems. ..."

...Not too unusual a statement untill you look at their patents:-

VTI are significant players in the sensor market. I'd reckon they'd not wish to have their new TPM sensors confined to just automotive applications. I can't find any indication that VTI have their own fully supporting next generation sensor technology so I look forward to hearing that VTI is working with us or one of our Licencees and joining the fun!
