Anyway, can contributors help me untangle this question? Why does Art stand still (at best) whilst knowledge and Technology advance?
If that needs unpacking a little think of this: cart and Cuttysark (wonderful, I know) compared to Ferrari and Airbus; and Homer and Shakespeare compared to, to............who?
In short, what is it about Art that means that excellence is transcending of time (in the way the Model T is manifestly not)? If that's too heavy to ponder between the mince pies, worry not...
