Absolutely, methinks '06 will be the making of us!
Current NHTSA spat is over TPMS radio frequencies. Interferance with home RF devices that have enough power to blot out TPMS transponders. Low power of current systems seems to be one of the issues (we know the TRT demo handest has lots of power, in fact I've wondered in the past if it might have to much but I hear that's not a problem). Followers of Smartire have mentioned the issue (and choice of frequency) could be the death of the Siemens system and that's why Siemens held onto a bit of the SMTR licence through Haco (to paraphrase, I'm uninformed about that). The original NHTSA doc isn't much help but could help explain slow progress.
Have a good Christmas!
(Edit: Just to add that it looks to me that SMTR completely terminated their agreement with HACO when HACO was purchased by Hyundai-Autonet. So I assume Siemens wouldn't have access to any of it on purchase of H-A.)
