Just found this on the High Plains sec.
"Includes 150,000 Common Shares over which Mr. Ryan exercises control and direction in his capacity as sole shareholder of Fontana Capital Corp"
Sole shareholder of Fontana - nice to know.

Fontana as far as I understand is a Hedge Fund. Its purpose is to aggressively raise capital from trading shares. Hedge funds are licensed to do things which us ordinary folk aren't. For example they can take short positions on shares, i.e. sell shares which they don't own. The bet is that the shares will fall in value and they can buy them at a cheaper price before having to commit to the deal. All monies raised by Fontana seem to be used exclusively to fund Crosby and Ryan ventures - assuming they can make more money out of the ventures than the Hedge Fund alone. Looking at what's happening in relation to High Plains and US Silver the purpose of the ventures is to run up companies that are fit for merger or takeover. They seem to do this by accumulating (buying further) assets to increase the value of the companies. It's all a means of making more money, the business subject itself is somewhat irrelevent, mining just happens to be what they know best.

Or to put it another way the parts (material assets, leases, strategic deals, project involvements, etc.) are all bought cheaply but the sum of them is worth a lot more than the parts individually. A virtual Christmas stockings worth of gadgets and gizmos (but not this Christmas).

I'd assumed Crosby was involved with Fontana but it looks like Ryan owns the lot. Crosby does have Crosby Enterprises and Cork investments. lol, certainly no shortage of cash with these guys.
And there's the Crosby Living Trust. He got that idea from uncle Bing who managed to avoid taxes when he died with a 'living' trust.
