Time Gentlemen, Omega time

Time Ladies & Gentlemen . Omega Time .

The name OMEGA conjures up the image of quality and precision .
But not all is what it seems in the City of London .
The glorious name Omega will now be associated with a
new company to be floated on AIM in 2004 for £ 40 million. The
goods to be peddled by that company are kitchen and bathroom suites, not precision watches . Fair enough, but do they have the right to use the Omega name ?
The company will be headed by the illustrious Mr Bob Murray (see Sunday Telegraph) who was the founder of Spring Ram , a kitchen and bathroom manufacturer . Spring Ram flourished in the early 1990's and then failed in a spectacular crash after an accounting scandal . Not the fault of Mr Murray , of course. He quit the company before the crash .
" I could see the problems coming " he says . I bet he did .
It is well known that rats scurry and leave a sinking ship early . Even so, don't blame the poor rats for the sinking of a ship . But then again, would you wish to take a cruise on a ship infested by rats ?
I am not referring to Mr Murray as a rat . For all I know he may be a good businessman . But then again , the more I learn about the clever games played in the City of London , the more I learn that things are not always what they seem .
Omega will market three kitchen ranges , one of them named "Chippendale" .
I once had the privilege to work from a genuine Chippendale desk . Given the choice, I would prefer my kitchen to be made by Mr Chippendale (deceased) , not by a cheap chipboard box-maker .
You see , I have this phobia of fakes . I just don't like them .
If you think of buying Omega shares there is just one more fact to consider :
the floatation on AIM will be handled by Evolution Beeson Gregory .
Ask the RSV shareholders on the Azure thread what they make of that .
There is a suggestion (still to be tested and proven in Court) that Evolution got involved in the peddling of fakes. My worst nightmare .
Tricky Dicky Richard Nixon, US President, was disgraced after the Watergate scandal. To show their distrust people used to ask:
"would you buy a second hand car from Tricky Dicky ?"
Likewise , if you are thinking of buying shares sponsored by Evolution you may wish to consider their involvement in the RSV short-selling scandal (DYOR) .
Then let me ask: " Do you feel lucky, punk ?"
